who has my heart

Published by clomomi at 4:25 am under Uncategorized Edit This

.A sudden panic overtakes me while asleep, and wakes me to find out that I am alone in my bed. As I pat the empty space around me, my heart starts pounding loud enough to possibly wake the neighbors. Using the light on my cell phone, I gather my thoughts and began to think that she is ok, she just fell asleep elsewhere. My mind however, shifts to the worse case scenario which is, she is dead or going to die because sleeping in a different place is seldom if ever. As I began to search, I see her white cloud coat, but her face is not yet seen, I poke at her only to find out that she won’t move! Again, panic develops, tears start to fill my eyes, a sharp pain strikes my heart, and my mind leads to think that this is my fault. Guilt it is, since earlier today I left her for hours while I played at the park and enjoyed myself with friends. I called her name and no response; I moved and called her name simultaneously this time she responds! While asking her if she is ok, I am relief that she is alive, although I am concerned if she is sick. I force her out from underneath the bed because she wouldn’t come out on her own, I then pick her up and lay her down where she belongs. Her breathing seems to be normal; however, she keeps licking her mouth, so I bring her water. I decide to let her go outside; perhaps she has a tummy ache, because she needed a potty break. We come back and she jumps on the bed! As I smile, I kiss her and think how she has changed my life.
How I’ve become an individual that cares about something even if it is a dog, I provide shelter, food and most importantly love. Pets are truly a blessing, and dogs are beyond special to their masters. The attachment and bond between my dog and I is greater than I ever imagined. She literally saved me from loneliness and many breakdowns in the past, now it’s my turn to pay it forward and save her. My role is to provide the greatest love and care a dog can receive, to make sure she is ok, healthy and happy at all times. She has my heart.
